IPL 2020: Most runs, Most Wickets, Most Sixes, Most Fours and Fastest Fifties

IPL 2020 was one of the most miraculous things to have happened in the year 2020. With the COVID-19 pandemic going around the world in full rage the tournament organisers made sure that the fans of the tournament got their dose of entertainment, be it away from the stadiums, and a bit later into the year. And, the numbers that came out of the tournament are a testament to the fact that the tournament was an entertaining one for the fans to enjoy.

Most Runs in IPL 2020:

KL Rahul the captain of the Kings XI Punjab, did everything that he could do with the bat and amassed 670 runs with the bat in the 14 matches that he played in. Following him, was Shikhar Dhawan whose contribution of 618 runs in 17 games helped his team reach the finals for the first time in history.

David Warner had a great season with the bat yet again and grabbed the third spot in the run getter’s list of IPL 2020 as he scored 548 runs in the 16 matches that he played in. Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the finalists, Delhi Capitals scored 519 runs in 17 games was slotted in at number 4 and following him was Ishan Kishan of the Mumbai Indians, who scored 516 runs in 14 matches.

Most Wickets in IPL 2020:

Kagiso Rabada made an increment in his position in the wicket taker’s list from IPL 2019, coming into IPL 2020 and by the end of it, was the Purple Cap holder, having taken 30 wickets, 3 wickets ahead of the second place holder in the list of the top wicket takers of IPL 2020, Jasprit Bumrah.

Trent Boult, Bumrah’s pace bowling partner, coming from New Zealand was placed at number 3 in the leader board as he took 25 wickets in 15 matches. Anrich Nortje and Yuzvendra Chahal were in close competition for the number 4 position, but it was Nortje, with 22 wickets who inched ahead of Chahal, by a 1 wicket margin.

Most Sixes in IPL 2020:

When it came to hitting the big hits in IPL 2020, it was the hero of Mumbai Indian’s tournament triumph, Ishan Kishan who came out on top, hitting a total of 30 deliveries into the crowd. Sanju Samson, of the Rajasthan Royals, was the batsman at number 2 with 26 sixes to his name in 14 matches.

Hardik Pandya and Nicholas Pooran, both of whom had hit a total of 25 sixes, occupied the 3rd and 4th spot in the list of players to have hit most sixes in IPL 2020, with Pandya gaining an edge over Pooran owing to the lesser number of innings that Pandya had taken to get to the tally that he was at. Eoin Morgan, the newly appointed captain of Kolkata Knight Riders was placed at number 5 in this list, as he had managed to hit 24 sixes in 14 games.

Most Fours in IPL 2020:

It is hard to find any other player who can hit the ball along the ground to the boundary with more finesse than the man himself Shikhar Dhawan, who was the one with the most number of fours in IPL 2020, having hit 67 fours in total. Suryakumar Yadav of the Mumbai Indians, followed Dhawan, with 61 fours in his account.

KL Rahul, the highest run-getter of IPL 2020, was the batsman placed at the 3rd spot in the list of players with the most number of fours in IPL 2020, as he had hit 58 fours. David Warner and RCB’s young sensation, Devdutt Padikkal, with 52 and 51 fours each, rounded off the top 5 in the list.

Fastest Fifties in IPL 2020:

Nicholas Pooran, coming fresh out from the Caribbean Premier League, showed the kind of form that he was in, by smacking the fastest half-century of IPL 2020, as he got to the milestone in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in just 17 balls. Sanju Samson was the next batsman in this list with his 19 ball smoker against the Chennai Super Kings.

The two Mumbai boys, Keiron Pollard, and Hardik Pandya, along with Marcus Stoinis were the players who had hit 20 ball half-centuries during the tournament. But, Pollard occupied the 3rd spot, Hardik occupied 4th and Stoinis came in at number 5 because of the differences in their tally of the total runs in those innings.
