Deep Dasgupta felt the absence of these 2 players for Sri Lanka tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the Indian squad for their upcoming Sri Lanka tour in 2021. Since India’s front-line team will participate in the World Test Championship final, this squad is the second-string one. This move can turn out to be an interesting one, with T20 World Cup occurring at the end of the year.

The side will be playing under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan. At the same time, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the vice-captain of the side. Both the players can lead when it comes to challenging situations. Shikhar Dhawan’s mind-boggling form in the first half of IPL 2021 will come into play.

Some of the few names that came out as a surprise in the squad were Chetan Sakariya, Manish Pandey, K Gowtham, and a few more. However, according to Deep Dasgupta, two more players should have been part of the squad.

Rahul Tewatia and Jaydev Unadkat were the two names not present in the list. Dasgupta felt that these should have been in the squad following their recent form in the Indian Premier League.

For Unadkat, Deep Dasgupta stated, “I really like Jaydev Unadkat because he is hardworking and passionate. Not just in the IPL, he bowls 20-25 overs in the Ranji Trophy, works hard, and is absolutely brilliant. Like I said before, if you are taking 25, you could have taken 26 as well. It would have made no difference.”

He went on to add that selecting 27 players instead of 25 wouldn’t have made a huge difference. The addition of these two stars could have made a better position in the squad.
