One change India might do for the 4th Test against Australia

The series between India and Australia currently stands at 2-1.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 has taken a twist. After two enthralling wins in the first two games, India suffered a disappointing loss in the third Test in Indore. They were outplayed by the visitors, who won the third game by 9 wickets to make the series 2-1. Be it with the bat or with the ball, Australia was better than India and marked their first win in the series. With this win, they also qualified for the World Test Championship Final.

The focus now shifts towards the final game of the series that will be played in Ahmedabad from 9th March. It’ll be an extremely crucial game for India considering their chances for the WTC Final. They would be hoping to rectify their mistakes and come back better in the last game. As the game is a few days away from now, let’s take a look at one change India might do for the 4th Test against Australia.

Mohammad Shami in place of Mohammed Siraj

One change India can look to do is they might bring Mohammad Shami back in the side. The pacer was rested in the third game and in his place Umesh Yadav was drafted into the side and did a staggering job with the ball. Shami could be back in the team in place of Mohammad Siraj, who could be rested for the last game. Siraj bowled just 6 overs in the third game and didn’t look effective with the old ball. Therefore the team can look to rest him considering the ODI series ahead and WTC Final. Shami on the other hand has the ability to reverse swing the ball and could be a game-changer for India.

Qualification scenario for the Indian Cricket Team for the WTC Final

For India to qualify, they need to win the last Test against Australia in Ahmedabad. If they managed to win the match, they without any obstacle will qualify for the final of the World Test Championship.

However, even if they didn’t win the last game they still have the chance to qualify. But they would be wanting some results to go in their favour. They would want New Zealand to beat Sri Lanka in at least one game and if that happens they are through even if they lose the last two games.

They are placed second on the points table of WTC 2023 with 10 wins from 17 games and have 123 points to their name with a win percentage of 60.29. Their qualification is now very much in their hands as they need to win the last game against Australia to play the final.
