The second Test between New Zealand and England will start on February 24th. The match will happen in Wellington. On that note, here, we look at the pitch report of Basin Reserve and the weather conditions in Wellington for NZ vs ENG 2023.
For the Kiwis, it was a tough game at the Bay Oval. A few months ago, too, they had lost a game at the venue. Against England, it was a poor outing and they were easily defeated by the Englishmen. In order to level the series and show their dominance at home, New Zealand has to win the game. For that to happen, they must tackle the aggressive approach of the English batters. If they can break partnerships consistently, England will have to think twice and the Kiwis could get an opening. Also, if New Zealand can play the likes of James Anderson better, they would further have a chance.

Till now, a total of 65 Tests have happened at this venue. Out of this, the teams batting first have won 13 encounters while the team batting second has won 28 matches. Therefore, the captains will have an easy choice to make for the game.
The average score batting first here is 307. In 2014, Brendon McCullum scored a triple-hundred against India. The England Head Coach’s knock is the best batting display, so far, here.
