The Women’s IPL kick-started with a staggering game between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants. Asked to bat first, MIW produced a sensational effort with a bat and batted brutally to set the stage on fire.
Hayley Matthews gave a staggering start to the team as she scored 47 runs in 31 balls and made sure that her side is off the flyer. Nat Sciver-Brunt too chipped in with a 23-run knock from 18 balls. But the real show came from the bat of skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
She played a scintillating knock of 60 runs in 30 balls and made sure that her side didn’t lose momentum. A cameo of 45 runs in just 24 balls by Amelia Kerr helped MI post a gigantic total of 207 runs on the board.
With the ball, MI wreaked havoc across the GGT’s batting lineup and reduced them to 5/3. Saika Ishaque led the charge for her side as she took four wickets and helped her side bundle out the opposition for just 60 runs and win the game by 143 runs.
