The 55th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where the defending champions Chennai Super Kings are battling against the Delhi Capitals. DC won the toss and elected to field first. The Chennai-based franchise have gotten off to an excellent start, thanks to a fantastic half-century from opener Devon Conway.
At the moment, the Chennai Super Kings are 148/1 after 15 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway had a magnificent partnership of 110 runs for the first wicket. Anrich Nortje broke the partnership by picking up Gaikwad’s wicket. The right-handed batter returned to the pavilion after scoring 41 runs off 33 deliveries.
Conway has held one end and scored 85 runs off 46 balls so far. Ahead of the match against the Delhi Capitals, the left-handed batter from New Zealand had a chat with the host broadcasters, where he discussed the chances of Chennai Super Kings qualifying for the playoffs.
“Every game’s a must win game for us now until the end of the competition. It’s not impossible for us to make the playoffs. We just need to win each game as it comes and just keep building momentum. Each player in the squad is getting better and those are good building blocks for the future.”
Devon Conway has been a massive plus point for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022
Devon Conway was one of the new names signed by the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2022 season. The left-handed batter did not have a memorable debut against the Kolkata Knight Riders, but ever since he came back to the playing XI after his marriage, Conway has been unstoppable.
He has had some excellent partnerships with Ruturaj Gaikwad for the first wicket. It will be interesting to see if he can take CSK to the Top 4.
