“None of these India players have had T20 Blast experience” England journalist’s Tweet shows why Indian cricketers must play in other T20 leagues to improve their game

India lost to England in the semis of the 2022 T20 World Cup. BCCI must take measures to fix India’s T20I problems. An option is to allow players to participate in overseas T20 competitions. On that note, here, we look at an England journalist’s Tweet that shows why Indian cricketers must play in other T20 leagues to improve their game.

The men in blue fail yet again

Under the new management and with a fresh approach, India was expected to do well in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Although the men in blue qualified for the semi-finals, the happiness was short-lived. Rohit Sharma’s men lost out in an embarrassing manner to England in the semis.

While India was not able to post a convincing score, later on, they put on an under-par show with the ball. With this performance, India lost a great chance to add another T20 World Cup to the trophy cabinet. BCCI must now chalk out measures to improve India’s T20 game.

Indian cricketers must play in other T20 leagues

The Indian cricketers do not take part in overseas T20 leagues. A few weeks ago, a BCCI official mentioned that this decision is taken because the exclusivity of IPL has to be maintained. Indian players are popular and if they start playing in other leagues, IPL may not be the only T20 league that has Indian cricketers in it. Therefore, IPL’s popularity might take a hit.

On the commercial front, the decision seems fine. However, on the other hand, cricketers from other nations are learning a lot from playing in the IPL. They know clearly the strengths and weaknesses of Indian cricketers. This is helping them to tackle them on the big stage. The Indian cricketers, though, are poor in this aspect. They also struggle in overseas conditions.

BCCI allowing Indian players to participate in overseas leagues could help the development of many cricketers. They could put a few restrictions on workload management but must focus more on skill development. An English journalist sarcastically talked about the same. Here is his tweet:
