Joe Root considering putting his name in the IPL auction
The preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has started. Teams have released and retained their players and it’s a brainer that the next edition of the event will be a blockbuster like the previous editions.
For the next edition of the tournament, a mini-auction is expected to take place and it is likely that many superstars will put their name to go under the hammer. The auction is likely to take place on 23rd December 2022.
The likes of Ben Stokes, and Sam Curran, who missed the last edition, along with Cameron Green and many others are expected to put their name in the IPL auction. In the latest development, it is learned that star English player Joe Root is considering putting his name.
Root hasn’t played a single game in the IPL but his T20I stats are enthralling as in 32 games he has scored 893 runs at an average of 35.72 and a strike rate of 126.31. If he puts his name in the auction, it is likely that many teams who lack the anchor option will bid for him.
Speaking to dailymail.co.uk, Root said: “I would certainly debate going into the IPL draw quite seriously and hope to get exposure in that tournament. It would be great to get involved in the continuous enormity of each game and how much it means.”

If Joe Root is indeed better than Kane Williamson and Steve Smith on the basis of 2016 T20 wc perfomance why has been rejected 3 times by IPL franchisee's and Smith,Kane have already played in IPL for 8-9 seasons and proven themselves. https://t.co/ejc3Le8tgZ

Still remember his 83 against South Africa in T20WC 2016. What a brilliant knock it was, England won the match chasing 230. #crickettwitter https://t.co/sUTjyaSBXW
