WWE Clash at the Castle 2022 Rumors: Potential Spoiler On Roman Reigns’ Future As WWE Champion

WWE Clash of the Castle is all set to be presented as WWE’s first marquee show in the United Kingdom after nearly 30 years. The immensely larger fan base in the U.K is eagerly awaiting WWE’s return in a grand fashion with this show and one of the biggest attractions definitely has been the main event, with the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against the Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre.

An early favorite to be slated into a main event match ever since Clash of the Castle was announced, McIntyre earned his way into the match by defeating his former friend Sheamus on the July 8 episode of WWE Smackdown while Reigns retained his championship in a grueling Last Man Standing match against Brock Lesnar.

Fans also witnessed the shocking addition of the returning Karrion Kross in this intense rivalry who warned Roman Reigns and his Bloodline during a fiery promo on the August 12 episode of Smackdown, but reports suggest that he won’t be inserted into the match and would be involved in the title picture down the line.

Will Drew McIntyre beat Roman Reigns at WWE Clash at the Castle 2022?

Ever since The Head of the Table unified the WWE and Universal Championship at Wrestlemania 38 dethroning the Beast Brock Lesnar, his appearances have become less and less with most of them being on Friday Night Smackdown leaving WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW without the regular presence of a world title.

According to a report, the USA network are keen to see a top-tier World title to be featured more on RAW even pitching the idea to have an interim championship due to Reigns’ limited appearances and with Drew McIntyre going into the match as a massive fan favorite with a huge British crowd by his side at the Principality Stadium, many believed that Reigns won’t be walking out of Cardiff, Wales with both titles on his shoulder.

According to @NewsXero as revealed on his twitter account, there are currently three booking options for the Reigns vs McIntyre match that could get at least one championship (presumably the WWE title) off the Tribal Chief.

One likely option could see the return of his special counsel Paul Heyman who was decimated by Brock Lesnar at WWE Summerslam. He could appear before the start of the match looking over a loophole in the title match’s contract announcing that Roman is slated to defend only one of his championships.

Another booking could actually see the addition of Karrion Kross into the match making it a two fall triple threat match with the first fall being for the WWE title and the second fall for the Universal Title.

Either Kross or Drew could claim the first fall winning the WWE championship and Reigns could secure the second fall retaining the WWE Universal Championship. This could be the most sensible route that WWE can explore to get the one title off Reigns without him having to take the pinfall and walking out of Clash of the Castle as the nearly two year reigning WWE Universal Champion.

WWE Clash of the Castle will take place on September 3 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, streaming live exclusively on the WWE Network.
