On the 22nd August edition of RAW that has just happened, Edge wrestled the main event match against Damian Priest in his hometown of Toronto after more than a decade. He successfully defeated the Judgment Day member in an entertaining back and forth match before being rescued by his better half Beth Phoenix from an attack by the evil group. Some fans are thinking after the show when will Edge retire from WWE.
After the show ended, he had made his intentions clear of when he plans to retire and how. The Rated-R Superstar wants to go out on his own terms and not be a victim of circumstances like in 2011 when he was forced into retirement from the career ending neck injury. He was out of in ring action for almost nine years but when he finally made his miraculous return at the 2020 Royal Rumble, he did so with dominance against the likes of Seth Rollins and Randy Orton among others, even headlining WrestleMania.
Edge disclosed when he will retire from WWE after RAW went off air
Thank you Edge. Chills. An amazing speech to end the night. Will see you back in one year in this building in August to end it the way you want it to. #WWERaw. pic.twitter.com/S7A3GOd8hP

After RAW went off air, Edge took the mic to announce something very unexpected. He announced to his home crowd that he wants to return to Toronto again next year, but for the last match of his illustrious career- his retirement match. It’s clear for now that 2023 is going to be the year we see the last of the legendary superstar.
Beth Phoenix, his wife, who was present there could be seen in an emotional state as did many members of the WWE Universe. He will turn 49 very soon and with his history of neck issues, it’s not unwise to contemplate retirement when he is nearly 50 next year.

If WWE returns to Toronto around exactly this time next year, which he mentioned, this would be the perfect farewell to this legendary performer. And retiring while active at 50 years old and performing for WWE is something most superstars just dream of with careers nipped in the bud due to health issues or contract releases.
