Wasim Jaffer Names 4 All-rounders Who India Could Pick for Asia Cup and T20 WC 2022; Leaves Out Venkatesh Iyer

Former Indian cricket team opener Wasim Jaffer recently named the all-rounders who could find a place in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup T20 and also the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to happen in Australia later this year. Jaffer named Hardik Pandya in the list, but he kept a condition that the selectors would only consider him if he bowls regularly for the team.

In an interaction with CricTracker, Wasim Jaffer shared his views on the potential all-rounders of the Indian squad. Jaffer felt that Deepak Chahar can also earn a place in the team if he is fit to play.

The former Indian opener named Ravindra Jadeja as the one all-rounder who is most likely to be a part of the team. As a back-up for Jadeja, Jaffer named Axar Patel, with Washington Sundar being the right-arm off-spin bowling all-rounder.

I am not too sure about Shardul Thakur: Wasim Jaffer

Then Jaffer discussed the chances of the Indian all-rounders who are playing in IPL 2022 but may find it difficult to earn a place in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Here’s what he had to say:

“Shardul Thakur can come in, but I am not too sure. Rahul Tewatia doesn’t bowl in the IPL, and I am not sure about him. Washington Sundar can get a look-in, as he brings another dimension as an off-spinner. Shivam Dube and Venkatesh Iyer hardly bowl in IPL, and when they do ball, it is not their strongest route.”

The former Indian opener concluded by saying that if Deepak Chahar is fit and available to play then he will be his number one seam bowler in the team. As per reports, Chahar will take a few more months before full recovery. It will be interesting to see if he makes it to the Indian ICC T20 World Cup team.
