Kieron Pollard bade adieu to international cricket yesterday as he announced through his social media platforms that he would not play another game for West Indies. Pollard was recently the captain of both the ODI and T20I team of West Indies that had toured India for limited-over games.
As Pollard made the announcement, the reactions galored on twitter as many of his current and former teammates congratulated Pollard for a wonderful international career where he also won a T20 World Cup for West Indies.
But, one of Pollard’s former Mumbai Indians teammates, Lasith Malinga, thought that Pollard might have retired from international cricket a bit too early, as there was still international cricket left in him.
Malinga, however, further insisted in his tweet that whatever decision Pollard has taken with regard to his international career, it should be respected by one and all. Malinga and Pollard played for Mumbai Indians for many, many years and out of the 5 IPL trophies that Mumbai has won, these two players have had a very influential role to play in that.

Kieron Pollard has been in indifferent form for Mumbai Indians this IPL season
While Malinga is now working as the bowling consultant for Rajasthan Royals, Kieron Pollard is still playing for Mumbai Indians, however his form with the bat has been a little indifferent this IPL season. Pollard hasn’t been able to finish games as consistently for Mumbai as he has done in the past.
With Mumbai having lost 6 games in a row now, they desperately need Pollard to step up to the plate as they face their arch rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) today.
Kieron Pollard’s last international assignment as the West Indies captain was not successful at all, as West Indies failed to win even one game out of the 6 that they played on the tour of India earlier this year. They were clean swept by India by a margin of 3-0 each, in both the ODI and the T20I series respectively.
