“The Worst Title In WWE History,” Twitter reacts as 24/7 Championship is retired

This week’s edition of Monday Night RAW saw Nikki Cross capture the WWE 24/7 championship from Dana Brooke. However, it was what Cross did after her title victory has garnered a lot of attention from the WWE Universe.

The WWE 24/7 Championship was introduced by Mick Foley back in May 2019. The title became a counterpart to the famous WWE Hardcore title that rose to prominence in the late 1990s during the Attitude Era. The inaugural champion was Titus O Neil.

The title was regularly featured on Monday Nights, with R-Truth became the most prolific champion. It was the feud between R-Truth and Drake Maverick that gained a lot of attention for the championship. The title was defended under the 24/7 rules anytime and anywhere as long as a referee was present. Moreover, the rule was suspended on certain occasions and the title was defended under normal match rules.

Many WWE Superstars such as Carmella, Elias, Bad Bunny, Shelton Benjamin and Drew Gulak became the holders of the WWE 24/7 Championship. The last time the title was defended on WWE TV was on the November 7 edition of RAW. The title holder, Dana Brooke was dethroned by the revamped Nikki Cross in a one-on-one match.

Nikki Cross seemingly retired the 24/7 Championship

Cross won and walked to the back with the title with her allies, Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO Sky). As the group celebrated Cross’s win over Dana Brooke, Nikki shockingly dumped the 24/7 Championship in a trash can. She was visibly having a sadistic smile as she walked off disposing the title. Furthermore, WWE removed the championship active titles page on WWE.com, signaling its retirement. Therefore, Nikki Cross became the final holder of the championship.

The 24/7 Championship’s retirement gained massive reactions from the fans on Twitter, expressing their views on WWE decision to remove the title from its active list of championships:
