The Undertaker recently shared his opinion on which Superstar should beat Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. In his view, there are top candidates for the job right now. His first choice was Cody Rhodes, and the other one was Sami Zayn.
As per The Undertaker, Cody Rhodes is the logical guy for dethroning Roman Reigns as the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion. Rhodes has worked hard to return to WWE and become a main event level Superstar. He will challenge Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39 on April 2.
The Undertaker had a chat with Ariel Helwani on BT Sport. When asked who should end the record-breaking reign of Roman Reigns as WWE Undisputed Universal Champion, the WWE Hall of Famer replied:
“I think Cody [Rhodes] with the momentum that he had, I think that would be the logical guy, and Sami’s a dark horse… It’s gotta be somebody that they have a lot of faith in and knows is going to be here for the long haul.”
Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33
The Undertaker remained undefeated at 21 consecutive WrestleMania matches before Brock Lesnar broke his streak at WrestleMania XXX. The Deadman then defeated Bray Wyatt and Shane McMahon on the Grandest Stage of ‘Em All before he crossed paths with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33.
Reigns and the Undertaker headlined the show that year, and as expected, The Big Dog defeated The Deadman. It looked like The Undertaker would retire from WWE after that loss, but he had two more WrestleMania matches, where he defeated John Cena and AJ Styles. The match against Styles proved to be his last one as he announced retirement from in-ring wrestling.
It will be interesting to see if WWE picks Cody Rhodes as the man to dethrone Roman Reigns. They will battle in the main event of WrestleMania 39 in three weeks.
