Rohit Sharma’s effort goes in vain as India fell short of just 5 runs in the second ODI

In what was another thriller, Bangladesh and India clashed with each other in the second ODI of the three-match series. Asked to bowl first, it was a staggering effort from Indian bowlers as they made the hosts’ batter look clueless and left them tumbling at 69/6.

Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik and Washington Sundar were the main reason behind the Bangladesh collapse. But after that nothing went in their way as fifty by Mahmudullah (77) and a century of Mehidy Hasan Miraz (100) lead a strong comeback for the side after a poor start.

The duo stitched the highest-ever 7th wicket partnership against India in ODI history with over 148 runs. They counter-attacked the Indian bowlers and smashed them all over the part to help Bangladesh post a total of 271 runs.

Chasing the target, India had a horrendous start as they lost Virat Kohli, who came to open, for just 5 runs and then lost Shikhar Dhawan as well for 8 runs. If this was not enough they lost Washington Sundar (11) and KL Rahul (14), as well as they, saw themselves tumbling at 65/4.

But after that Shreyas Iyer (82) and Axar Patel (56) steadied the Indian ship as they stitched 107 runs partnership to make hopes of Indian fans alive. But they both perished in quick time and failed to take their side home.
