ICC, earlier today, released their rankings for the batsmen in the men’s category of T20I cricket and without any doubt, Suryakumar Yadav was at the top of the rankings again, but what was different this time around was the rating points of Suryakumar.
With a hundred off less than 50 balls in the second T20I against New Zealand at Bay Oval, Suryakumar Yadav has now strengthened his position even further as the no. 1 T20I batsman in the world and the gap between him and the second-ranked Mohammad Rizwan is now of 54 rating points.
Suryakumar currently has 890 rating points and only Virat Kohli has ever had more rating points than Suryakumar among all the Indian batsmen, as far as T20I batting rankings are concerned. When Kohli was at the peak of his batting form in T20I cricket in 2016, he had once got to the rating points tally of 897 as the no. 1 batsman in the world.
The way Suryakumar Yadav is playing in T20 international cricket at the moment and the way he is scoring the big runs consistently at a very high strike rate, it doesn’t seem it would take him that long to cross Kohli’s rating points’ tally of 897, because the Mumbai right hander has already reached 890.
Suryakumar Yadav retains his number 1 ranking in T20 batter with 890 points.

Suryakumar Yadav might get the opportunity to play test cricket soon
Meanwhile, there are reports that based on his form in limited-over cricket, Suryakumar might get the opportunity in test cricket as well and with Ravindra Jadeja having been ruled out of the Bangladesh test series, India might replace Jadeja with an extra batsman in the form of Suryakumar.
It remains to be seen what decision the Indian selectors take as far as Suryakumar’s red-ball international career is concerned, but he is currently flying very high in white-ball cricket, particularly in T20I cricket.
