Mumbai Indians team icon Sachin Tendulkar recently picked his best playing XI from the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He posted a video on his YouTube channel, where he selected the top 11 performers from the recently-concluded season and formed a balanced playing XI.
Tendulkar picked four players from the champions Gujarat Titans team. Speaking of his playing XI, he selected Punjab Kings opener, Shikhar Dhawan, to open the innings with Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper Jos Buttler. Jos won the IPL 2022 Orange Cap award for scoring the most runs.
Interestingly, Tendulkar decided to give the number three position to KL Rahul. The Lucknow Super Giants captain opened the innings for his team in all matches, but Tendulkar kept him at number three to have a left-hand-right-hand opening combination.
At number four and five were Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya and the team’s hard-hitter David Miller. Sachin named Hardik as the captain of his team. To further strengthen the batting department, Sachin added Dinesh Karthik from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Liam Livingstone from Punjab Kings to his team.
Rashid Khan was the bowling all-rounder of the team, while the three bowlers were Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah. Explaining on his YouTube channel, Sachin was quoted as saying as follows:
“I would have Rashid as he is a dangerous batter and, with the ball, he gets the breakthroughs in the middle overs. His success rate is very high. Chahal was the highest wicket-taker. He always thinks about outsmarting batters.”
