2 Indian Players Who Work As Commentators In IPL But Play In Foreign T20 Leagues

IPL is the grandest T20 league on the planet at the moment, with players from different parts of the world dreaming to earn a contract from one of the 10 franchises. Many great players of world cricket have participated in the Indian Premier League, and the upcoming season will feature some of the biggest names of the sport as well. Indian players are the main attraction of the league, as there are seven Indians in every IPL playing XI.

A majority of the places in the IPL squads belong to the Indian players only, which is why even the cricketers who have lost their place in the Indian cricket team get a chance to play in this league. However, there comes a time, when the player goes unsold in the league because of average performances in other matches.

Either the cricketer himself announces retirement or makes up his mind to call it a day on his career after going unsold at the auctions. In this article now, we will look at two Indian cricketers who work as commentators in the Indian Premier League but participate as players in foreign leagues.

Raina remained unsold at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The former CSK star then became a commentator for the broadcasters. He retired from all formats of Indian cricket and played in Abu Dhabi T10 League recently.

2. Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa is another one from the Indian players to feature on this list. Uthappa played his last season for the Chennai Super Kings in 2022. He announced his retirement soon and joined Star Sports and Jio Cinema as a commentator. Uthappa is currently playing for Dubai Capitals in ILT20 2023.
