“Plays Blockathon To Save Matches, Playing Here To Finish It Off”, Twitter Left Gobsmacked As Pujara Entered God-Mode Against The Bears

Cheteshwar Pujara continues his dream run for Sussex

They say comebacks are hard but somehow Cheteshwar Pujara has been making very easy work of the same as he has been riding hard on some newfound form in county cricket as he registered another century for Sussex, this time in the Royal London ODI Cup.

Despite his valiant effort, Sussex would fall short of the finish line by a meager four runs as the remainder of their batting order would collapse in very quick succession with bare minimum means to stay afloat in the midst of some serious heat.

Cheteshwar Pujara continues his song for Sussex

Chasing 311, Pujara would walk out to bat with the score reading 112 for 2 from 21.4 overs. It would be everything but easy for the seasoned Indian campaigner as the ball did its fair bit in the initial stages.

Weathering the early storm, he would soon come out of the closet with the heavy artillery raining explosives on the Warwickshire Bears to derail their campaign. Once Ali Orr departed, it was almost a solo battle from the hard-hitting Pujara who knew it was time to unleash the hammer with very negligible support from the other end.

While wickets tumbled for Sussex at regular intervals, Pujara was graceful in his own sweet way, bringing down the hammer with every loose ball available for whipping. With the equation reading 20 runs needed off 6 balls, Pujara’s fall would eventually snuff out all hopes as Sussex would eventually finish the contest with 4 runs short of the stipulated total.

Pujara went berserk in the 45th over where he took out Liam Norwell for 22 runs, smashing him all over the park, which set the chase perfectly for the following overs. Much to his woes, he would fall to Hannon-Dalby for a well-fought 107 from just 79 balls.

Pujara’s dream runs for Sussex have been a thing of wonder in the cricketing fabric, with scores of 107, 63, 49, 46, 231, and 46 coming in the span of his last ten games played across all formats. He also stitched a crucial 66 against England in the second innings, which felt like a solo war against the mighty hosts.

Twitter was in absolute awe of Pujara who has been in tremendous form for the county giants ever since his incorporation into the side. His slump in Test form for India begged a lot of questions that compelled him to join the county ranks and now he has been an absolutely unstoppable force for Sussex.
