“Not just be happy that I made a comeback,” Jaydev Unadkat says his sole focus is to make India win

Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat opened up about his comeback after many years in the national side. He said that he wants to contribute to the success of the team and not just be happy that he made a comeback to the team.

Things have drastically changed for Jaydev Unadkat. After grinding hard in the domestic circuit, he made a comeback into the Indian team after 12 long years. While many celebrated his comeback, he didn’t waste time and went back to domestic cricket to grind hard.

Undkat had a decent comeback in the Indian team as well as he bagged three wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh and bowled impeccable line lengths to trouble the batters.

Before getting into the mix again, Unadkat toiled hard in the domestic circuit and kept taking wickets in clusters. In the last three Ranji Trophy seasons, he has picked up 115 wickets in 21 matches. He played an instrumental role in his side’s title win in 2019-20, picking up 67 wickets, the second-highest haul by a bowler in a season.

Unadkat has now been selected for the Indian team for the first two Tests against Australia. He has been consistently playing domestic cricket with his most recent heroics coming in the match against Delhi, where he took a hat-trick and bagged a six-wicket haul.

With him getting selected for the team after 12 years, he was asked about his comeback. However, he didn’t get carried away with it as his focus his just to make team win. Speaking in ESPNCricinfo, he said: “I want to contribute to the success of India, not just be happy that I made a comeback”.

Jaydev Unadkat is likely to play in the two Tests against Australia as his form and his ability to extract Indian conditions could prove handy for India.
