Nikhil Chopra Names 4 Spinners India Could Pick For T20 World Cup 2022, Leaves Out Kuldeep Yadav

Former Indian cricketer Nikhil Chopra recently gave his opinion on who should be the spinners in the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to happen in Australia. The conditions Down Under will favor the pace bowlers, but Chopra felt that the Indian team should go with four spinners in the team.

In a discussion on CricTracker’s ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show, Nikhil Chopra named four spin bowlers who could make it to the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. He started off by saying that he would go in with a combination of a finger spinner and a leg-spinner.

For the finger spinner’s role, he picked Ravindra Jadeja as the candidate. Nikhil Chopra then mentioned that he would consider the pitch and conditions as well before deciding who should bowl with Jadeja in tandem. He then named Rahul Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi as the candidates for the leg-spinner’s spot.

“I will check if he has the potential to turn the ball, or once it pitches does it do enough,” Chopra said. “I have a finger spinner in the form of Jadeja, and it will be a competition between Chahal and Chahar for the wrist spinner’s slot,” he added.

Nikhil Chopra thinks the BCCI should give the spinners a chance to prove themselves in the Asia Cup

Before participating in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, the Indian cricket team will take part in Asia Cup T20 2022 scheduled to happen in Sri Lanka later this year. According to Chopra, the four spinners should be tried out in the Asia Cup and the best performers could make it to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

Interestingly, Chopra did not take the name of Kuldeep Yadav, who has done well in IPL 2022. He also left out Varun CV and R Ashwin, who played for India in T20 World Cup 2021.
