India beat Great Britian 3-1 as the men in blue create history:
History was created as the very determined and passionate Indian men’s hockey team advanced to the Olympic semi-finals for the first time in 49 years as the men in blue beat Great Britain 3-1 in the quarter-finals. India now are in touching distance of a medal in the sport, something which has proved to be very difficult in the last 4 decades. The last time the team played in an Olympic semi-final was way back in 1972 where they lost 2-0 to arch-rivals Pakistan.
What next for team India?
India will now take on World Champions Belgium in the semifinal on Tuesday, Belgium meanwhile defeated Spain 3-1 in their quarter-final to book their place in the semifinals round. While the other semifinal will be played between Australia and Germany.
