List of players who have withdrawn from IPL 2020, Harbhajan Singh latest in the list

IPL 2020 has not even started yet, but several cricketers have already pulled out of the tournament for one reason or the other. The biggest name to have pulled out of the league yet is the CSK vice-captain Suresh Raina.

Raina’s salary for one IPL season at CSK is 11 crore INR and he even travelled with the team to UAE to train ahead of the IPL, but he found it uncomfortable to stay in quarantine for a significant period of time and he was also missing his family. So, he decided to return back home.

Before Raina, the England opener Jason Roy had withdrawn from the tournament as he had sustained an injury while practicing before the recently finished T20I series between England and Pakistan. Roy had to play for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020.

Richardson and Malinga also out of IPL 2020

Kane Richardson, the Australian fast bowler, also announced a couple of days back that his wife was expecting the birth of his child around the same time as IPL and he would want to stay back home with his wife and wouldn’t be able to feature for RCB in IPL 2020.

Lasith Malinga has also taken his name out of the Mumbai Indians squad and has preferred to stay back in Sri Lanka with his family at this time of COVID pandemic and Mumbai Indians have already named James Pattinson as Malinga’s replacement.

The CSK off spinner Harbhajan Singh is now the latest to withdraw from IPL 2020. He has cited personal reasons not to play in the tournament and it’s a bit of a blow for CSK because Harbhajan was the only specialist off spinner in the CSK squad.

Recently, the former Rajasthan Royals coach Paddy Upton said that more players could feel uncomfortable about the circumstances surrounding the IPL 2020 where the players are expected to spend a significant amount of time indoors.

According to Upton, he wouldn’t be surprised if many other players would be thinking on the same lines as Suresh Raina.
