IPL 2020: Yuvraj Singh praises Abdul Samad for brilliant cameo against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh had heaps of praises for young Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer Abdul Samad, who played a fighting innings against the Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2020. His quickfire 33 off just 16 balls included 2 fours and 2 sixes and SRH were alive in the game till he was batting.

Abdul Samad took Rabada and Nortje to the cleaners

Abdul Samad showed incredible six-hitting ability and took the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje to the cleaners. Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter and said that Samad showed a lot of promise and that he feels he could be a very special player in the future.

DC opted to bat first and sent in Marcus Stoinis alongside Shikhar Dhawan to open the innings. This experiment worked out beautifully as Stoinis’ quickfire 38 gave DC a strong start that they were craving for. Shikhar Dhawan scored a brilliant 75 and some late hitting from Shimron Hetmyer ensured that DC reached a mammoth total of 189 in their 20 overs.

Needing 190 runs to win, SRH got off to the worst possible start as they lost their skipper David Warner early. Manish Pandey hot a few boundaries but couldn’t quite keep the longevity as he too perished. SRH were in a spot of bother at one stage at 44-3.

But thanks to a brilliant innings from Kane Williamson who scored 67 off just 45 balls, SRH were still alive in the game. Both him and Abdul Samad began attacking the DC bowlers and at one point it looked as if SRH would tilt the game in their favour.

But their wickets ensured that SRH eventually lost the game by 17 runs. Although SRH fell short, Abdul Smaad’s innings was noticed by many great players and he has been tipped to become a special player for India in the future.
