Delhi Capitals all-rounder Marcus Stoinis had a great outing in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2020 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Opening the batting for the first time in the tournament, Stoinis scored a quickfire 38 off just 27 balls and gave his team a flying start. Both him and Shikhar Dhawan played a fearless brand of cricket and at one point were scoring in excess of 10 runs per over.
Marcus Stoinis also contributed with the ball, picking up figures of 3-26. His wickets included bug players like Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson. DC had posted a competitive score of 190 and despite heroic effort s from Both Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad, SRH fell short by 17 runs and helped DC reach their first-ever IPL final. Marcus Stoinis was adjudged the player of the match for his all-round efforts.
Here is why Marcus Stoinis carried The Hulk action figure in post-match presentation
Marcus Stoinis had a conversation with Shreyas Iyer after the match, where he explained the reason behind it.
“Apparently this is what I am looking like when I am celebrating my wicket. That’s sticky. Now every time when I celebrate, I think I look like this (Hulk),” Stoinis told on IPLT20,com.
“When you roam around us, we feel like this huge guy coming in and out. Just try to stay away from me. You can get angry any time,” Iyer replied.
While picking up wickets, Marcus Stoinis also likes to celebrate like the Hulk by flexing his muscles. It is safe to say that his 352 runs and 12 wickets in the IPL 2020 so far has surely been a Hulk-like performance. He is hopeful that he will be able to deliver one final blow to the Mumbai Indians in the final.
Marcus Stoinis opening the innings has changed the fate of the Delhi Capitals as they got a solid start from their openers, something that they haven’t been getting ever since the first game. He is used to opening the batting for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League and thus could be a title-defining moment for them. Only time will tell whether DC will be able to win their maiden IPL title, or will the defending champions make it their fifth IPL title.
