As Punjab Kings took to field against a rip-roaring Royal Challengers Bangalore who are soaring at the top of the points table, one of their biggest names, Mayank Agarwal was not found on the playing list.
This led to a lot of questions being asked, especially given Mayank’s form and their desperate need for reliable monikers that have seen Punjab ailing towards the bottom of the points table.
When Rahul came out for the toss, he was asked about the absence of a few young names from the team list today, especially Mayank Agarwal. The response was curt and it hinted at a few experimentations that the management has been trying with the team.
He quoted, “We have always found ourselves in this position, we just have to go out there and put up a show tonight. We have three changes. Henriques and Arshdeep are out, Mayank is not feeling too well as he got hit in the last game.”
Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul have so far been the best Punjab could offer until now
Even in the last game where Punjab posted an exceptionally ordinary batting showdown, it was Mayank who fought quite deep to help his team with the hope of taking them out of jeopardy.
Mayank also played an industrious role in their game against Mumbai Indians that saw them nullifying the threat of the defending champions.
Punjab Kings has so far been ailing in the sixth spot with two victories from six games until now and their net run rate reads -0.608. If they are unable to script something better from here, the offing doesn’t really seem to be too bright for them either.
Their bowling has been exceptionally ordinary that has seen Riley Meredith as the solitary silver lining in an otherwise muddy sky.
