Harbhajan Singh not happy with Suryakumar Yadav’s exclusion from Indian squad

While everyone is surprised by Suryakumar Yadav’s exclusion from the Indian squad for the tour of Australia, the veteran Indian off spinner Harbhajan Singh has also come up with a tweet asking the Indian selectors what more the Mumbai right hander will have to do to be picked in the Indian squad.

Suryakumar has been one of the most consistent performers not just in the domestic circuit of India, but in the IPL as well, but for some reason, he is always one of those unlucky ones to miss out on national selection.

Ahead of India tour of Australia 2020, it was believed that Suryakumar would get the opportunity this time around, but as the squad was announced last evening, all Suryakumar fans were left disappointed as his name didn’t feature in any of the three squads which were announced for three different formats of the game.

With Rohit Sharma being out injured, a spot had opened up in the T20I squad, but that spot went to Mayank Agarwal as he is a genuine opener and the Indian selectors wanted a genuine opener as Rohit’s replacement rather than a middle order player.

The reason why Suryakumar can prove to be a great asset for India’s limited over sides is because he is a versatile player and while he has got the game to be a very efficient finisher, he can also bat in the top order if needed.

Suryakumar is not getting any younger, so if he doesn’t get his opportunity now or next season, it’s very much possible that he might never play for India because the selectors will be looking at younger players going ahead.

Suryakumar himself also posted a cryptic tweet with his family after the announcement of the Indian squad and the fans were really sympathetic with him in reply to that tweet as most of the people understand that the Mumbai batsman deserves a go in the national set-up based on his performances at the domestic level, but he isn’t getting what he deserves.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
