Ebadot Hossain Becomes The First Bowler To Concede A 7 And A 5 In The Same Test Innings

Test cricket got to witness an interesting occurrence on Sunday. The first was when a batter scored seven runs of a single delivery. Later, a 5 was also conceded and interestingly, both happened when the same player was bowling. This is the first time that it happened in the history of the format. Hence, Ebadot Hossain becomes the first bowler to concede a 7 and a 5 in the same innings of a Test match.

Ebadot Hossain becomes the first bowler to concede a 7 and a 5

It is common to witness a bowler conceding five runs of a single delivery. This happens when there is an overthrow by a fielder who is looking to execute a run-out. However, giving away seven runs in a single ball has hardly happened before. This was mainly due to the lack of awareness by the Bangladesh fielders. The Kiwi batsmen ran for a three and in a moment of misunderstanding, the Bangla fielders let the ball run to the boundary. Incidentally, both incidents occurred in the bowling of Ebadot Hossain, who was the Player of the Match in the first Test. New Zealand is 349/1 at the end of Day 1 and will be looking at a massive score.

Bangladesh has surprisingly done well in New Zealand

Bangladesh is one of the weaker oppositions in Test cricket. New Zealand, on the other hand, are the WTC Champions. Especially on their home soil, the Kiwis are almost unbeatable in the five-day format. Hence, with the Bangladesh Team touring the country, the result was written on the wall.

However, the subcontinent team exceeded expectations by going on to win the first game. A combined batting effort by the team in the first innings and then, a superb bowling performance across both innings helped Bangladesh defeat New Zealand. Considering the context of the game, it was a huge win and will go down as one of their best in history.
