The 45th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway, where the Lucknow Super Giants are taking on the Delhi Capitals. LSG won the toss and captain KL Rahul decided to bat first. The decision proved to be the right one for LSG as the have posted a 195-run total on the board in 20 overs.

KL Rahul led his team from the front with a fantastic knock of 77 runs from 51 deliveries. The right-handed batter smashed four fours and five sixes in his entertaining innings. Rahul opened the innings with Quinton de Kock.

The two openers gave a great start to LSG as they added 42 runs for the first wicket off just 4.2 overs. Quinton returned to the pavilion after miscuing an aerial shot off Shardul Thakur’s bowling. Deepak Hooda then came out to bat at number three and supported Rahul to perfection with a half-century.

Hooda and Rahul had a partnership of 95 runs for the second wicket, where the former contributed 52 runs off 34 deliveries. He smashed six fours and a six in his 34-ball stay. Speaking with host broadcasters after the first innings, Hooda said:

“I am enjoying batting at 3. I bat at the top of the order in domestic cricket too so I’m enjoying it. It is hot but being an Indian I am used to it. We play in this heat in domestic cricket as well. It is a good wicket but the slower balls are holding in it a bit.”
