Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by five wickets to finish the season on a good note. However, there were multiple concerning topics for the franchise this season. One of them is the poor form of captain Rohit Sharma. The skipper himself spoke about his barren run after the final game. In this article, we take a look as Rohit Sharma talks about his poor form in IPL 2022 after the final game for Mumbai Indians.
Rohit Sharma talks about his poor form in IPL 2022
IPL 2022 was the worst season in IPL history for Rohit Sharma as a batter. He made just 268 runs at an average of 19.14 and a strike rate of just 120. For the first time ever, Rohit finished a season without scoring a fifty. Naturally, he was disappointed with his performance in the campaign.
Speaking after the game against Delhi Capitals, Rohit said, “A lot of things that I wanted to do didn’t happen. But this has happened with me earlier as well, so it’s not something I am going through for the first time.”
The Indian skipper continued, saying, “I know cricket doesn’t end here; there is a lot of cricket ahead. So I need to take care of the mental aspect and think about how I can return to form and perform. It’s only a minor adjustment and I will try to work on that whenever there is some time off.”
Mumbai Indians have a solid base to strengthen for IPL 2023
Although it was a forgettable season for Mumbai, they do have plenty of positives to take away from the campaign. The team has already identified a strong core of youngsters, who could do well in future campaigns. The likes of Tim David, Tilak Varma, and Dewald Brevis were impressive in IPL 2022. Add to this the likely availability of Jofra Archer and some new picks in the next auctions, MI can challenge for the title in IPL 2023.
