“Kiwis of World cup since 2015 is CSK of IPL since 2010 to 2015”, A Tweet sums up the performance of New Zealand in recent ICC tournaments

Although not rated highly before the start of a tournament, New Zealand has been doing well in the actual competition. They are doing well in each competition and hence, the Kiwis have to be appreciated for their job. On that note, here, we take a look at a Tweet that sums up the performance of New Zealand in recent ICC tournaments.

New Zealand has been in excellent form in ICC tournaments

New Zealand was the finalist in both the 2015 and the 2019 ODI World Cup. While Australia defeated them easily in 2015, the game went down to the wire against England in 2019. Coming to the World Test Championship, New Zealand defeated India in the final to lift the mace. In T20 World Cup, they have reached the semis in both the 2021 and 2022 editions. This is excellent all-format consistency by the squad.

Looking at the performances and the dominance, this era of New Zealand can be compared to that of Chennai Super Kings between 2010 and 2015. At that time, CSK inevitably reached the playoffs and also won a few trophies. A Twitter user compared both these eras and it was perfectly relatable. Here is a look at the Tweet:

CSK will target a strong return in IPL 2023

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings will target a strong comeback in IPL 2023. The team did not have a great outing in IPL 2022 and they also had to face a few controversies. However, there was a similar occurence in IPL 2020 and the team came back to win the trophy in IPL 2021.

The fans will hope for a similar return in IPL 2023. The likes of Robin Uthappa have retired while Ravindra Jadeja is set to stay in the franchise. CSK will need a strong batting attack and hence, they have to invest wisely in the auctions. Auctions might happen in mid-December.
