Josh Inglis out of T20 World Cup because of injury on golf course, Dushmantha Chameera and Reece Topley out too

Josh Inglis was picked as a back up wicket-keeper batsman in the Australian T20 World Cup squad

The list of injuries of the prominent cricketers of a lot of big teams is just getting longer and longer ahead of the T20 World Cup, as the fresh additions to the list are the Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera, the England fast bowler Reece Topley and the Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis.

Of all these three injuries, the injuries of Chameera and Reece Topley are understandable because both of them got injured while training, but Josh Inglis was all fine till he turned up on the golf course this morning and sustained an injury that was serious enough to rule him out of the World Cup straight away.

Josh Inglis was not just the backup wicket-keeper batsman that Australia had picked for the T20 World Cup, he was someone who could bat both at the top of the order and in the middle order. So he gave Australia a lot of options, in case they wanted to replace one of their first-choice players due to fitness and form.

Josh Inglis might be replaced by Cameron Green in the Australian squad

With Inglis out now, Australia will probably bring Cameron Green into the squad who is again a utility allrounder capable to bat up and down the order, but he doesn’t provide Australia a backup wicketkeeping option like Inglis.

As far as England are concerned, they are most likely to replace Topley with Tymal Mills, who is a like-for-like replacement in the sense that he is a left arm, but Topley is slightly taller than Mills and gets a lot more movement off the surface as compared to Mills.

Chameera’s injury is a big blow for Sri Lanka as well, as they have already lost one of their first-choice bowlers in Dilshan Madushanka and now they will have to go to their 3rd or 4th choice fast bowling option in a situation when they are already under a lot of pressure to make it to super 12s.
