Jasprit Bumrah makes it to Nasser Hussain’s IPL XI of the season

The former England captain Nasser Hussain has picked Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer in his IPL team of the season. The 13th season of the IPL finished just recently in UAE where Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals in the final to win the tournament for the 5th record time.

While Jasprit Bumrah was a part of the title winning set-up of Mumbai, Jofra’s team Rajasthan Royals couldn’t make it to the playoffs despite the fact that the English fast bowler performed excellently in his individual capacity and was named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the tournament.

Bumrah, who struggled a little bit in the initial phase of the tournament, later regained his rhythm and ended at the second position in the list of the highest wicket-takers.

Apart from Jofra and Bumrah, Nasser also picked KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan as the openers of his IPL XI. While Rahul won the orange cap, Dhawan was only second in the list of the highest run-getters.

Nasser said he was thinking about Quinton de Kock who also scored more than 500 runs for Mumbai in the tournament, but he eventually went with Dhawan and Rahul because not only do they score runs at a brisk pace, they are pleasing on the eye as well.

As per Nasser, the general perception about T20 cricket is that it’s a format where you need to belt the ball and hit it really hard if you have to make a mark, but Rahul and Dhawan have shown that you can score runs quickly even if you just try and stroke the ball rather than hitting it really hard.

Abhishek

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
