Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni said that no one can field better than Ravindra Jadeja while speaking about how the all-rounder’s absence affected the team’s balance. Jadeja was the number one retention made by the Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2022. They paid him 16 crores for his services this year. However, Jadeja could not justify the big price tag.
Ahead of the new season, the Chennai Super Kings announced that Ravindra Jadeja will be their new captain since MS Dhoni stepped down from his position. Jadeja led the team in the first half of the season, but the team’s performance was not up to the mark. Even Jadeja’s personal performance was not the same.
As a result, Ravindra Jadeja handed over the captaincy back to MS Dhoni. A few games later, Jadeja suffered an injury, which ruled him out of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. In a brief interview at the toss ahead of the match against the Mumbai Indians, CSK skipper Dhoni spoke about how Jadeja’s absence impacted the team and said:
“It has worked for us, batting first. We are playing with the same team. Someone like a Jaddu, he is one of those who helps us try out different combinations. It’s tough to replace him, don’t think anyone can field better, no replacement in that aspect. When a lot of is at stake, you need to do the homework.”
MS Dhoni might miss Ravindra Jadeja in the batting department today
MS Dhoni received an invitation to batting first from Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith have wreaked havoc at the Wankhede Stadium today, reducing CSK to 39/6 at 7.3 overs.
Captain Dhoni is currently in the middle along with all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. It will be interesting to see how many runs CSK scores in the first innings.
