IPL 2023 trading window is not too far away and RCB is one of those teams which always indulge in a bit of trading ahead of every season, as they look to find more balance in their XI and one should not be surprised if they again decide to trade a few players.
RCB’s performance in the last three IPL seasons has been consistent. They have not been able to win an IPL trophy, but they have managed to qualify for the IPL playoffs three seasons in a row which suggests that they don’t have a bad team, but a little bit of fine-tuning might be needed.
Here are the 3 players RCB might release during IPL 2023 trading window –
Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis is the captain of RCB and he actually performed well both as a captain and as a player in the last IPL, but the problem with Royal Challengers Bangalore is that they have two similar styles of players at the top of the order. Virat Kohli, who opens the batting with Faf du Plessis, is more or less the same kind of a player and with those two being a little conservative, Bangalore sometimes doesn’t get off to a quick start.
In a radical trading decision, Bangalore might surprise a few people by trading their captain Faf du Plessis itself during the IPL 2023 trading window.
Anuj Rawat is a power hitter at the top of the order, but he couldn’t make full use of the opportunities that he got in the last IPL and with Rajat Patidar coming into the picture now and a couple of other young players like Suyash Prabhudessai and Mahipal Lomror already in the RCB squad, the RCB management might decide to let go of Anuj Rawat, as they have got bases covered in terms of domestic Indian batting.
David Willey is another player who couldn’t do justice to his reputation at Royal Challengers Bangalore in the previous IPL. He was used to the new ball and then was given opportunities in the middle order with the bat too, but he couldn’t produce too many memorable performances to guarantee himself a contract extension for the next season.
