“I Am Still Waiting”- Dinesh Karthik’s Old Quote About CSK Goes Viral After His Dream Run In IPL 2022

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway, and one of the best performers of this year’s IPL so far has been Royal Challengers Bangalore’s wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik. He has rediscovered his mojo and emerged as a match-winner for the Bangalore-based franchise in the 2022 edition of the IPL. An old quote from Dinesh about CSK is going viral now.

While Karthik has been doing wonders for the RCB team this year, his home franchise Chennai Super Kings are languishing in the bottom 2 of the IPL 2022 points table. CSK have managed only one win in their first six matches of the season so far.

Some fans feel that the Chennai-based franchise lacks the firepower which it once used to have. With the release of some star players due to the mega auction rules, CSK are not so strong as they were in 2021, when they won their fourth title.

While CSK’s performance graph is low and Karthik’s is up, an old quote from the RCB star has resurfaced online. Karthik expressed his desire to play for CSK during an interview with Cricbuzz in 2020. Here’s what he had said:

“In 2008, I was in Australia, in the lead up to the auctions, Dinesh Karthik the person, was convinced that he was the biggest name from Tamil Nadu cricket to have played for the country. For sure, they (CSK) are going to pick me.”

Dinesh Karthik was wondering if CSK would name him their captain in 2008

There was only one question in Dinesh’s mind, and that was whether CSK would make him the captain or not. However, Chennai did not buy him and instead went for MS Dhoni. Delhi Daredevils recruited Karthik. Dinesh has played for multiple franchises since then but not CSK.

“I thought that they would pick me later. It’s been 13 years and I am still waiting for that elusive call from CSK,” Karthik concluded.
