“I spend INR 25 lakhs feeding 5000 people”- Gautam Gambhir Reacts To Criticism Of Working In The IPL

IPL 2022: Gautam Gambhir is one of the most recognized cricket stars to come out of India. He is also well-known for his forthright and uncensored comments, both on and off the field. After hanging up his cricket bat, the southpaw has been quite successful in the political arena. In a recent interview, he was asked about his involvement in the Indian Premier League (IPL) even though he is an active politician. He responded in the signature “Gambhir” fashion.

Gambhir is a member of parliament who represents the Bhartiya Janta Party and represents the East Delhi seat. The former cricketer is also the proprietor of a restaurant known as “Jan Rasoi,” which provides meals to the less fortunate for the low price of only one rupee. The ‘Ek Asha Jan Rasoi’ initiative, which aims to eliminate hunger and malnutrition from society, was the driving force for the establishment of the kitchen.

“The reason I commentate in the Indian Premier League or work in it is that every month I spend INR 25 lakhs feeding 5000 people. This is equivalent to around Rs. 2.75 crore every year. In addition, I have invested a total of 25 lakh Indian rupees (INR) in the construction of a library,” Gambhir said in the press conference.

“None of this comes from the MPLAD fund. I pay for everything out of my savings. My kitchen and the other activities I do are not supported by the MPLAD grant in any way. Also, I don’t have a money tree growing in my backyard that I can pick coins from,” he went on to say.

I am not embarrassed to say that I have been employed in the IPL: Gautam Gambhir about working in IPL 2022

In past years of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the former captain of KKR has served as a pundit for the tournament. However, he served as a mentor for the Lucknow Supergiants this season. The Lucknow-based team, which he mentored, qualified for the playoffs in their first year of existence. However, they were eliminated by RCB in the Eliminator.

The MLA of Delhi said that he does not feel any embarrassment in stating that he is linked with an IPL team and provides commentary during IPL matches. “Only because I work am I able to construct that library or provide food for those 5000 people. I have no shame in admitting that I work in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Everything I did was working towards a certain objective,” Gambhir said.
