Sunrisers Hyderabad took on Punjab Kings in the final league game of IPL 2022. In the first innings, SRH was in a bit of trouble with the bat. However, Washington Sundar stepped up, scoring 25(19) and helping his team post a decent total of 157. In the first game of the season, too, Sundar had done well with the bat.

Of course, with the ball, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder is always a reliable cricketer. Now, former India Head Coach Ravi Shastri has gone on to predict that Washi will be India’s all-rounder across all formats in the future. He said that while speaking on ESPN Cricinfo and his colleague Ian Bishop revealed Shastri’s prediction.

Washington Sundar might play a key role for India in future

It has been an interesting career trajectory for Washington Sundar so far with regards to Team India. While in the T20I format, he has been able to make an impact with the ball, in Test cricket, Sundar’s best contributions have come from his blade. Hence, he is unable to cement his spot in both these teams at the moment. Add to this, Washi is also suffering due to frequent injuries.

Nevertheless, going by his age and the time he has on his hands, Washi is sure to develop into a better cricketer. For that, he needs to strike a balance between the formats and start working towards becoming an all-format all-rounder for India.
