“If there is one player that deserves equal as Kohli and Rohit. It’s ASHWIN”, Twitter reacts as R Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer help India win the Mirpur Test against Bangladesh

At one point in time, India struggled to win the match. However, a fine partnership by R Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer helped India cross the line. Here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as R Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer helped India win the Mirpur Test against Bangladesh.

R Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer helped India win the game

Team India needed 145 runs to win the game and whitewash the Test series. Considering the batters, especially since the likes of Rishabh Pant had been decent in the tournament, India was expected to cruise to the target. However, that did not happen. The pitch assisted spin and Bangladesh’s strong zone came into the picture. The Indian batters also struggled under pressure and could hardly take on the spinners. The defensive intent also did not help the visitors. Axar Patel did play a handy knock but that was not enough. There were a lot of expectations from Pant but he fell to a brilliant piece of captaincy by the Bangladesh skipper.  However, Shreyas and Ashwin stitched a partnership to help India win the game.

The men in blue would now have a clear scenario to qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship. With the next series lined up against table-toppers Australia and with India, not in great form, it will be interesting to see how India performs. The management will have to take some tough calls, especially in the batting department, to improve the performance of the team. While the return of Rohit Sharma is much awaited, the management will also hope for Virat Kohli to return to form at the earliest.
