The iconic venue that the MCG is, it has so far seen a total of 15 T20I encounters. In these games, nine matches have been won by the teams batting second. Hence, captains who will win the toss at the upcoming T20 World Cup will have a clear choice to make.
The average score batting first at the MCG is 141 and the highest score by a team is 184/3 which India achieved in 2016. While David Warner‘s 89 against South Africa in 2009 is the best batting display, Josh Hazlewood‘s 4/30 against England in 2014 is the best bowling performance at this venue till now.

The temperatures in Melbourne aren’t going to be a concern. We can expect the temperature to range between 20 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius during the 2022 T20 WC.
However, rainfall is a big threat. The news is already out that even the India vs Pakistan match on October 23rd could be hampered by rain. Each stakeholder will hope that MCG turns out to be a good venue for the tournament.
