“I was a little bit selfish when I was on 99, but I thought I deserved the hundred,” Rilee Rossouw reveals what was going through his mind in the 90s

Rilee Rossouw scored his first ever T20 international hundred yesterday in Indore off just 48 balls

The South African left hander Rilee Rossouw, who scored his first ever T20 international hundred in the third T20I against India in Indore yesterday, revealed after the game that he was probably a little bit selfish when he was on 99, but that’s because he thought he deserved a hundred for all the hard work he had put in.

Rilee Rossouw didn’t play for South Africa for a long time because of his kolpak contract in the English county circuit, but now that the kolpak is not there after the Brexit, Rossouw is free to play for his country. Since his comeback to international cricket, Rossouw has already played a couple of match winning knocks for South Africa in international cricket.

Rossouw was actually on 99 when the last over of the South African innings started yesterday and the first ball that he faced from Deepak Chahar was quite hittable for a big shot, but Rossouw tapped it towards midwicket and got a single to complete his hundred. Rossouw might not have gone for a big shot off that particular delivery, but his hundred was a very quick hundred, as it came off just 48 balls.

Quinton de Kock kept me in the right frame of mind: Rilee Rossouw

Rilee Rossouw revealed while talking to the official social media handles of Cricket South Africa (CSA) after the game that when Quinton de Kock got run out after a long partnership with him, he told him to bat till the end and be the guy to score big on the night. Rossouw credited De Kock for keeping him in that sort of headspace where he wanted to finish the innings and didn’t want to leave the job for someone else.

It was a very important knock for Rossouw ahead of the World Cup because he had scored a couple of ducks in the first two games of the T20I series against India and there were murmurs about his spot in the team. But, once Rossouw got through the early phase of his innings yesterday, he was almost unstoppable on a small ground in Indore.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
