“I still pinch myself after what has happened, it could have been a triple hundred,” Ishan Kishan on his double century against Bangladesh

Ishan Kishan became fourth Indian to score double century.

Indian batter Ishan Kishan opened up about the double century that he scored in the recently concluded third ODI against Bangladesh. The southpaw said that he still pinches himself and he could’ve scored a triple hundred, but his wrist was completely gone.

“Sometimes I still pinch myself after what has happened,” says Ishan Kishan

Indian batter Ishan Kishan hogged the headlines after his staggering show in the third ODI against Bangladesh. He became the fourth Indian batter to score a double century in ODIs.

He proved all the critics of his selection wrong as he played a sensational inning that put India in the top position. Kishan looked very optimistic since ball 1 and even after losing his partner, he kept playing with intent and scoring runs all over the park.

Kishan first became the first Indian opener to smash fifty in the series and after achieving the milestone he didn’t look back. He then took his opportunity with both hands as he smashed his maiden hundred in International cricket in just 85 balls.

Once he reached his hundred, he tried to put every ball for a boundary and in the process reached his 150 in just 103 balls, which is the fastest by an Indian in this format. However, he didn’t stop there as continued smashing Bangladesh pacers all over the park and making them look clueless. He also has the highest individual score for India against Bangladesh in ODIs and also the highest by any batter in the country.

Weeks after achieving the milestone, Ishan Kishan opened up about his double century. He said that he still couldn’t believe what he achieved. In an interaction with One Cricket, he said:

“Sometimes I still pinch myself after what has happened in the last couple of weeks, I can’t deny that. I want to make more 200s, but at the same time, I do feel special when I think about scoring that double hundred against Bangladesh.”

“It could have been a triple hundred,” Ishan Kishan on his 200

Ishan Kishan said that he could’ve scored a triple hundred as there were 15 overs left but his wrist was hurting. He said:

“It could have been a triple hundred, I know, there were still 15 overs left. So, right now when I watch the highlights, I think that I could have gone for the 300, but my wrist was completely gone.”

Ishan Kishan will be next seen in action in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, which will be played in January 2022.
