“I Have Played For So Long That At Least I Deserve It”- Tamim Iqbal Unhappy With BCB Not Giving Him A Chance To Explain His T20I Future

Senior player of the Bangladesh cricket team Tamim Iqbal has slammed the Bangladesh Cricket Board for their lack of communication with him. Iqbal has been a regular member of the Bangladesh cricket team in Tests and ODIs, but he has not played T20I cricket since March 2020.

Iqbal said that he has not got a chance to explain his situation to the board in the last two years. They have not picked him in the shortest format of the game, but Iqbal thinks since he is so experienced and achieved so much success, he deserves at least one chance to explain his case.

“Either you [media] say it or someone else tells it [regarding my T20’s future] and let it move like this because I am not given any chance [by the board] to tell anything. I play for so long that at least I deserve it, what I feel or think they should hear it from me,” he told the reporters at a private function in Dhaka.

For the record, Tamim Iqbal has played 78 matches in his T20 international career, scoring 1,758 runs for the Bangladesh cricket team. His highest score is 103*. Notably, he was not a part of the Bangladesh cricket squad that participated in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Will Tamim Iqbal play for Bangladesh cricket team in ICC T20 World Cup 2022?

The 2022 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to happen later this year in Australia. Bangladesh is one of the 16 teams that will play in the tournament, and the Asian side will look to perform better.

The last time Australia hosted an ICC event was back in 2015 when they co-hosted the 50-over Cricket World Cup with New Zealand. In that mega-event, Bangladesh made it to the quarterfinals. It will be exciting to see how Bangladesh perform this year and if they pick Iqbal in the squad.
