“Thanks For Memories”- Rajasthan Royals Post A Cryptic Tweet Amid Sony Vs Star Bidding War For IPL Rights

The IPL Media Rights is the hottest topic of discussion in the cricketing circles right now. According to reports, Viacom18 has secured the rights to live stream all IPL games from 2023 to 2027 at the price of 50 crore per match, while either Disney+ Star or Sony have won the rights to telecast the Indian Premier League matches at the price of 57.50 crores per game. Rajasthan Royals came up with an interesting tweet.

The winner of the Indian TV rights is not known as of now, but it is speculated that either Sony or Star has won it. Rajasthan Royals Twitter admin recently thanked Internet Explorer after it was announced that the browser will shut down soon.

However, the tweet featured a screenshot of a tweet, which stated that the Sony Pictures Sports Network has won the rights for telecasting the Indian Premier League matches for 10 years from April 1, 2008.

The news is obviously from 2008, and it is an indirect dig at Internet Explorer for its slowness. However, some fans are guessing if Sony has actually won the rights for the next cycle of IPL. Here is the tweet posted by the Rajasthan Royals on Twitter.

Aakash Chopra suggested the players whom Rajasthan Royals should release for IPL 2023

Rajasthan Royals finished runners-up in IPL 2022. They were just one win away from winning their second IPL trophy, but the Jaipur-based franchise faltered against the Gujarat Titans. Speaking on his YouTube channel after the conclusion of IPL 2022, former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra discussed RR’s combination for IPL 2023 and said:

“They can free up about 8-9 crores, leaving out players like Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, etc. But the question is will you get an all-rounder. If Ben Stokes becomes available, he still likes to bat in the top order. It is the lower order where the Royals are light/ Who’s there after Shimron Hetmyer at 5?”
