“I Asked Him”- Rovman Powell Reveals Why He Did Not Give Strike To David Warner When He Was Near 100 In Last Over Against SRH

The 50th match of IPL 2022 is happening right now in Mumbai, where the Delhi Capitals are taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is the first time this season that David Warner is playing against his former franchise. Warner was with the Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2014 to 2021. He captained the team and led them to the championship in 2016.

However, just after one average season, he was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals signed him at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, and it proved to be a great decision because Warner has been very consistent for the Delhi-based franchise.

He played one more excellent knock in IPL 2022 tonight, scoring 92 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Warner had a chance to complete a century against his former team. However, Rovman Powell all the deliveries in the last over and did not give strike to Warner. He was not out on 92 when the innings ended.

David Warner told Rovman Powell to play for the team and not look for milestones

Rovman Powell asked David Warner if he should take a single and give him the strike so that he can complete his century. However, the latter told him to play naturally for the team and not think much about his century. Here’s what Powell said in an interview with the host broadcasters after the first innings:

“I asked him if he wanted a single to get a hundred but he told me this isn’t how we play cricket and I should try to smack it as far as I can and as hard as I can and I did it.”

The Delhi Capitals scored 19 runs off the last over bowled by Umran Malik. Rovman Powell enjoyed facing the express pace. Even though there was a delivery at the speed of 157 kmph, Powell dispatched it to the boundary.
