Proteas all-rounder Donovan Ferreira emerged as a hero in Joburg Super Kings’ win over Durban Super Giants in their opening game of the SAT20. The right-hander shined with both bat and ball as his team bagged a comfortable 16-run win.
Asked to bat first, Joburg Super Kings were tottering at 27/4. It seemed that they would get bundled out at a low score. But Donovan Ferreira steadied his side’s ship and played one of the greatest innings in the shortest format of the game.
He batted staggering well and wonderfully crafted his innings. Ferreira played a magnificent knock of unbeaten 82 runs and took his team to a total of 190 runs, which at once seemed impossible. He batted with a strike rate of 205 and smashed 8 fours and 5 sixes.
However, he didn’t stop there as he then chipped in with the ball as well and took the crucial wicket of Quinton de Kock, who was batting at 78 and helped his team win the game by 16 runs.
