Here Is The Reason Why Kuldeep Yadav Won Man Of The Match Against PBKS Instead Of Axar Patel

The 32nd match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League happened last night at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Delhi Capitals took on the Punjab Kings in the game, where the Capitals emerged victorious by nine wickets. Many fans thought Axar Patel would win the Man of the Match award, but it was Kuldeep Yadav who won the prize.

At the post-match presentation, Kuldeep Yadav mentioned that he wanted to share the award with Axar Patel. Both Yadav and Patel bagged two wickets each in the match between the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings. While Yadav picked up the wickets of bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Nathan Ellis, Patel dismissed two good batters – Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma.

Also, Kuldeep Yadav conceded 24 runs in his four overs, whereas Axar Patel only gave away 10 runs. That’s why many fans were confused when Kuldeep won the Man of the Match award. However, the cricket universe must note that the Man of the Match award is purely subjective.

The commentators pick it as per their wish and not as per any numbers. Famous commentator Harsha Bhogle revealed its details in a recent tweet as he wrote:

“Only one award is subjective and that is the player of the match. Everything else is determined by numbers.”

A fantastic performance from the bowlers ensured that the Delhi Capitals received only a 116-run target to win the match. David Warner’s unbeaten half-century guided the Capitals home in the 11th over itself. Speaking at the post-match presentation after winning the Man of the Match award, Kuldeep said:

“I would like to share this award with Axar. He bowled well and took important wickets in the middle. I have got plenty of confidence this season and I am also mentally clear with my role.”
