Here is the qualification scenario for Mumbai Indians after losing to CSK

Mumbai Indians were in good form but were dealt a blow with their loss to arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. With this, their chances to reach the playoffs have taken a hit. On that note, here, we take a look at the qualification scenario for Mumbai Indians after losing to CSK to reach the playoffs of IPL 2023.

The qualification scenario for Mumbai Indians has become tougher

Out of the remaining four games, Mumbai has to win three matches to reach 16 points. Considering the situation of the table, 16 points appear sufficient to reach the Top 4. However, seeing the NRR of MI, it would be better if they win all their remaining fixtures.

The opponents for MI would be RCB, LSG, GT & SRH. While RCB, LSG & GT will also be looking to reach the playoffs, SRH could also enter the race accordingly. Hence, teams will be desperate to win and MI could be under pressure.

The bowling unit needs to step up

It is the bowling unit that needs to do well for Mumbai Indians. Although the batting department had difficulties at the start of the season, they have done well to win a few games. However, the bowling unit is still lagging behind and that is a concern, especially if MI has to defend a score.

Piyush Chawla has been the star for MI in IPL 2023. Almost no one expected him to do well and he is delivering consistently with wickets. Jofra Archer is also available but he is not bowling at his best. This is something MI must focus on at the earliest. They could also try to use the services of the newly-acquired Chris Jordan in the coming games. He would be a decent option in the death overs and would also add depth to the batting unit.
