Here is the qualification scenario for India to qualify for WTC finals after the series win against Bangladesh

India defeated Bangladesh 2-0 to win the Test series. Although it looked difficult at one point, a wonderful stand by Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin helped Team India. Now, all the focus is on the finals of the World Test Championship. Here, we take a look at the qualification scenario for India to qualify for the WTC finals after the series win against Bangladesh.

How can India qualify for the WTC finals?

Team India looked out of the chase of 145 against Bangladesh. Most of the batters were out and it was down to the last recognized batting duo of Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin to do the job for India. They started cautiously but applied pressure on the Bangla bowlers to win the game for India. This is a sigh of relief for the men in blue keeping the WTC in mind.

Before the series started, India needed to win 5 Tests out of 6. With them winning 2 Tests, it is now up to the Indians to win three of the four Tests against Australia to seal a spot in the finals of WTC. Of course, this scenario could change if a few other results involving other teams go India’s way. Meanwhile, India climbed to No.2 on the WTC table after the series win against Bangladesh:

India will have to take a few bold calls

India must take a few hard calls for them to execute a win against Australia. At the moment, the kind of form that the team is in, the men in blue could struggle.

Especially in the batting department, India must step up. While KL Rahul could be dropped, the arrival of Rohit Sharma will be good news for the team. Virat Kohli had a forgettable Test series and he will be keen to make a comeback to form at the earliest. India would also hope for Jasprit Bumrah to be fit by the time the serie starts.
