Here is how South Africa can qualify for Cricket World Cup 2023 directly?

South Africa are currently 9th on the points table in ICC ODI Super League.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is around the corner. The mega event will take place in India later this year and only 8 teams will earn a direct qualification in the rest. The remaining five teams will play and qualifier round along with associate nations to book their berth for the marquee tournament. Out of the 8 teams, seven teams have qualified for the Cricket World Cup 2023. India, Australia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan, England and Bangladesh have found themselves in charts of direct qualification.

Here is how South Africa can qualify for Cricket World Cup 2023 directly?

There’s only one vacant space for direct qualification in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Ireland, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands all in contention.

If we talk about South Africa, things aren’t going their considering the picture of the World Cup. They have not performed well in the ODI Super League and cancelling the series against Australia for SA20 made things even worse for them.

They are currently placed 9th on the points table with 79 points from 22 matches. However, they are not completely out of the race as their 2-1 series win against England has given them a fair chance. Although, they are on the brink of elimination but their fate lies in their own hands along with some results to go in their favour.

For them to qualify directly, first they need to beat the Netherlands in the two games and then they would want New Zealand to beat Sri Lanka in at least one game. They also would be backing Bangladesh to whitewash  Ireland in three ODIs.

South Africa’s remaining fixtures in the ICC ODI Super League

South Africa after a series win against England has made sure that they still remain in contention for direct qualification. They will next face the Netherlands in the two-match series at home. The first game will be played on March 31st and 2nd April respectively.
